I needed to get my car inspected and some minor work done on it in preparation to lend it to my sister for a while. My girlfriend needs to get inspection and service done for her car.
The Plan: Drop Steph’s car off Monday night for service Tuesday. Drop Colin’s car off Tuesday night for service Wed. Steph drives Colin’s car to work on Tuesday. By Wednesday night we have two happy cars.
What actually happened:
Monday night Steph’s car would not start in the cold, so we tried mine. It was also dead in the cold. We had to have AAA jump us both, then drive around for an hour when we wanted to be in bed. We opted to drop off my car because it was less reliable in the cold and Steph could not risk missing work with my car not starting. We called and pushed back Steph’s inspection.
Tues – Steph’s car worked fine. They did the service on my car but could not do the inspection because the battery was dead and that causes the emission sensors to forget their info. They said I have to drive 50 miles for them to recalibrate. They sell me a new battery. Big snowstorm so i opt to go get it on Wednesday.
Wed – Go get Colin’s car out of Honda’s snowbank and drop off Steph’s car for service Thursday. Takes forever to drop off for some reason but it is all looking up.
Thursday – Steph drives my car then picks me up after work to go pick up her car. My car is making a weird rattle sound as we head to Subaru. It is getting worse so after I drop her at her car, I decide I can’t wait until home to look at this thing. I pull into our office parking lot. The back tire is flat… There is a big nail in it. At this point I contemplate pulling off the plates, filing off the VIN and leaving it in my manager Saja’s parking space. Instead I call Steph and she comes back and helps me swap to the spare. We make it home without ether car catching fire or whatever else is next.
Friday – Who know, I have not seen it yet. Maybe it is gone. I have called to get a new tire on Monday. And still need an inspection. Big sigh.
